509th Infantry Links of Interest

MILITARY UNITS

1st Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment - Currently at Fort Polk, LA they are a great close knit brotherhood who are living up to the traditions set by those who have gone before and are making their own rightful place in history.

3rd Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment - Newly formed in Alaska, they trace their history back to Charlie Company, 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion in WWII. Most recently this unit has deployed to Afghanistan.


ASSOCIATIONS

509th Parachute Infantry Association - I encourage all Soldiers past and present to join this fine association. Regardless of what era you served they will welcome you with open arms.

National Infantry Association - As a Life Member, I encourage all Infantrymen past and present to join and support the association to preserve the history of the Infantrymen. They are currently working to expand the facilities of the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning, GA by adding several World War II structures to create a 'Company Area'.

Veterans of Foreign Wars - As a Life Member, I encourage all Veterans to join.

FOUNDATIONS AND MUSEUMS

Sadzot Museum 44 - Museum started by a resident of the town of Sadzot to honor the memory of the Veterans that fought there to include the 509th PIB.

Army Historical Foundation - As a Founding Sponsor, I invite you to join this organization in supporting the establishment of the National Museum of the US Army. They also have a Soldiers Registry in which you can add a Soldier/Veteran to the database.

World War Two Airborne Demonstration Team - As a member of the team since 1999 I am proud to be apart of this organization which is dedicated to carry out the mission to REMEMBER, HONOR, and SERVE the Veterans.

National World War II Museum - (formerly the National D-Day Museum) - As a Founding Sponsor, I invite you to join this great museum in preserving the history of the Greatest Generation.

The Airborne and Special Operations Museum - Has several WWII 509th PIB items on display. They also have a Soldiers Registry in which you can add a Soldier/Veteran to the database.


REENACTMENT GROUPS

Airborne Command - Group of French reenactors who honor the 509th PIB, 517th PIB and the 463rd PFAB that liberated Southern France by regularly visiting monuments to these units and participating in local commemorative events.

509th Living History Group - Group of US reenactors who honor the 509th PIB, by regularly visiting monuments to the 509th and participating in commemorative events.
