(Close up view of pin found on 509th Veteran Bill Price. Previously this insignia was unknown. Thanks to Stephane Hadjadje a reserve squad leader at the 1er RCP (Regiment de Chasseurs Parachutistes) PIR for helping us to identify it.
He went on to explain...
"and that's logical because my unit has been created with the help of the 509th and the 82nd ABTC at FEZ in 1943... on the El Djem raid 2 paratroopers of this unit were there and made it with Lt De Leo.... this kind of thing make them feel very close!)"
