Bill received three purple hearts while serving with the 509th.
Warren Boehmke met Bill in basic training at Camp Walters, Texas. They took basic together and volunteered for the paratroops in May of 43, Arrived at Fort Benning on May 29th., 1943. Left July 20,1943 for Patrick Henry, our embarkation point.
Sailed for Casablanca on July 30th and arrived on August 6th. Left Africa November 28th. and arrived in Naples
December 12, 1943. Warren Boehmke was assigned to "A" Company and Bryant went to "C" Company. After the "Battle of the Bulge"
they were both assigned to the 82nd. Airborne , 505 regiment. Left Germany June 2, 1945 with enough points to go home.
Went back to France . Departed Marseilles, France and arrived in Boston September 15, 1945. This is when Bill and Warren parted company. Warren Boehmke stayed in touch with Bill until his death.

Hemet Bill Bryant was wearing in France when hit by a round. Notice the blue Gingerbread Man on the side, each company in the battalion had a different color. Bill was assigned to C Company.
