The aircraft he was on arrived the over the Mediterrainean coast on 08 Nov 1942 aproximately 80 to 90 miles west of Oran. THey turned east following the coast and came upon the Sebrka de Oran (Desert dry lake bed). Other C-47s were already on the ground and reported enemy fire. The C-47s in the air prepared paratroopers to jump on the high ground. The plane Chalker was on became damaged when they tried to remove the jump door so they landed on the Sebrka and offloaded the paratroopers and equipment
