Charles Doyle was the first Vice President of the 509th Parachute Infantry Association and then became the President when Tom Dellaca passed away in June 1989. At the 50th Anniversary of the Airborne in Washington D.C., Charles Doyle was elected as 'Permanent President' of the 509th PIA. Charlie and Marjorie hosted several reunions in Plymouth and Sturbridge, Mass.

Charles Doyle wrote the most thorough account of the 509th Combat History in World War II titled 'Stand in the Door' with Terrell Stewart.

00 Sept 2000 - Charlie Doyle was honored by keynote speaker Lt. Gen. William P. Yarborough who proclaimed Charlie as the "GINGERBREAD MAN" of the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion.

16 Dec 2001 - Passed away, buried at Mayflower, Cemetery, Duxbury, Plymouth, MA
