25 Dec 1944 - Johnstons best buddy Eugene Jordan was killed in action
29 Dec 1944 - Wounded at Sadzot, Belgium from shrapnel from a german grenade that exploded three feet away some of the shrapnel entered his liver
Shortly after he was discharged, he traveled to Kansas and visited with the family of Eugene Jordan. He ended up staying a few months.
1991 - Passed away
