00 May 1944 - Arrived in Trapani, Italy at the Airborne Training Center. Packed parachutes and assisted in training.
00 Aug 1944 - Sent to Lido di Roma Airfield where he attended another Demolitions Course and we believed packed personnel chutes and assisted with preparation of 509th for upcoming DRAGOON Operation in Southern France
23 Sept 1944 - Wrote home from SOUTHERN FRANCE, first use of 509th return address HHC (we think Demolitions Platoon), in subsequent letters he talks about clearing mines and booby traps. We believe he arrived in Replacement Pool, not on Jump Roster
