Note: Spanish Morocco was neutral territory and combatant detained were to remain for the duration of the war just as was done in Switzerland. However, a secret agreement was made with the Spanish Government and American Soldiers were released. At the time, these Soldiers were sworn to secrecy not to reveal their experiences in Neutral territory. Many of these Soldiers were eventually returned after several months to their units and continued to serve.
